They look tidy! Especially like that rocker cover.

Big desision has been made. The G60 engine won't be going back in this car. I'm putting it back to a 1.3 and I can't wait!

So it's not gonna be a 1.9 G60 anymore but a 1272cc 8v ripper with nearly 140bhp. Going back to a small block! 😱😂

On closer inspection of this new engine I've found some issues.
Corrosion, bent valves due to poor packaging, holes in the inlet manifold and cracks in the head.  Just my luck. So when I get a chance I'll be dropping in to see Dave (the man in the shed) Crissel to get a telling off for not putting the G60 back in and and to see what he thinks of this small block head & manifold. I'll let you all know how that goes down!!

Wahoooooo! Small blocks for the win

I much prefer small blocks. In the Derby I have the last of the 1272's so it had a blistering 70 odd bhp from the factory. Chucked on a good manifold and exhaust and twin 40's and it pulls hard in every gear and runs out of revs in 4th  :P

My golf has the 1400 16v twin cam on bike carbs and managed 147 on the dyno.

I'd love that rocker cover and air box for the Derby! Git  :P

Looking forward to lots of progress

Rolled it outside and treated it to a wash to help with motivation. I'm actually excited about it for the first time in ages!

Still trying to find a half decent QS code gearbox (4 speed small block box) if anyone knows of one lying around? :)
