Interior is soooooo much better, seats look as good as mk1 seats can look IMO.

Get all the niggles sorted and have a great 2016 season
Richy was saying at the weekend that they are not actually mk1 seats !!

I thought they were Sportline seats recovered I need to pay more attention

So, few little details.

The headlamps and grill badge were looking tired, so a near new set of Hella H4's have gone on, slight different glass to the early Bosch ones that were on there, but think they look ok.

Also grill has been cleaned up, new grill badge fitted and my Mk1 Golf OC grill plaque fitted as well.

The silver radiator bracket on and angle was doing my head in as well, so been painted black and tweaked a bit

Looking smart mate.
I put a new vw badge on mine this summer. Didn't realise how dull the old one was until the new shiny one was on

I had this after x5pea. I had it at MV developments as they went bust and lost an absolute fortune on it. I had the fuel filler hole reinstated, the floors replaced as well as lots of other things. Had plans to make it nice, but after the issue with the garage i lost interest. Looks nice now.

Have some pics somewhere of it, will try and dig them up.

smokeybubbles amazing!, great to hear this, really starting to build up a history from its old owners and threads etc

Sorry to hear you lost money on it and had a bad experience though :-(

Did you buy Paul's Jetta / sell him the shell?

Top work on getting the fuel hole re instated, I love the fact the turret is still in the back and shows its history a bit etc.

Any pics you have would be really good.

Cheers

Rich

Few more small tweaks

Number plates -

Wanted to have the option to show it plateless at shows, and didn't want any brackets or hangers fitted to bumpers so got some magnetic plates, which seem to work well.

Rear lights - fancied trying a different look so got some all red rears (but have kept originals) and am intending to fit heckblende soon also

I like the rear red lights Rich, look spot on.

I've now got small bumpers too and need a solution for my front no plate.

I couldn't make out from the pics what you've done?, could you give me some tips lol

SOLD MAY 2016

Unfortunately although the car was near perfect, in fact too near perfect, tin top ownership wasn't for me.

The car itself was a little too far show car for me on reflection, the paint was so good I was worried about it picking up marks going to shows etc and just when I was generally using it.

The lack of heaters, stereo wiring, the bumpy ride on 17's, no rear seats and needing the brackets welding back in to be able to re fit them etc etc, just meant I was not enjoying it as much as the Sportline cabriolet , and didn't want to jump in and use it as and whenever as was too worried about it.

I was also really missing the Sportline cabriolet and after doing the sums on how much more I would have to spend on tin top to get it how I wanted I decided to let it go (it already owed me a lot!)

It unsurprisingly sold 4 hours after I advertised it, and is now owned by the owner of a performance / specialist car company in Bristol and is sat in his showroom next to his Mk1 Escort.

I have just picked up a cheap (ish) Rivage to smoke around in for the rest of the year as don't want to be Mk1 less, and my "master plan" is to build a small bumper cabriolet ready for next years show season, but its early days

Cheers

Rich

Well it was lovely car Rich but can understand your reasons. Mine still has to be practical with the kids and I use it a lot. I'm sure the next one will be as good mate

Sad to see it go but I know what you mean about missing the Sportline. I'm trying to strike a balance between it looking good with daily duties. In an ideal world I'd have a tin top GTI as well!
