richyhill - My New GTI Tintop

Hey Rich  lovely looking tintop you got there.  Love the colour and the engine bet it goes like a rocket.  Love the wheels but maybe an 1" or 2 to big.  Looking forward to see this in the flesh.

gasco I am at Bristol City for first home game on the 15th mate then out for a few beers with the lads after but let sort a meet up soon, we have Berkley Castle and Malvern coming up so should be able to catch up

If anyone knows someone or are looking for some lightweight comfy buckets then they will be for sale soon with harness's, they are awesome seats, just not the look I am going for

I recognise that plate. That car goes way back. I remember it had a G60 in it and audi 80 door handles. Then john gledhill got his mits on it and ruined it in my opinion. 
However it looks good now. 
It first came on the scene around 1998.

I quite like the fact that its been on and off the scene over the years in various different looks etc

Hopefully my stamp on it will work  

If it's the same car I may have some pics of it from the 90's. It looked a lot different to those links you have posted. Give me a couple days and I will see if I can find them. 

I got it wrong ! I was thinking about HCL 220Y.

Not the prettiest job, but carpeted the garage with some carpet I got for free just to keep the dust down and make the Golf a little more comfortable  Made a matt to catch and oil drips as well

So been pritty quick paced since getting the car in July.

Long story short is the car had not had that many miles put on it, since the build was finished so I had some issues with thermostats, the fan not kicking in properly etc, system loosing pressure etc, also the suspension being so low was worrying me a bit. Thankfully the previous owner has his own garage and is a real genuine bloke, so helped me out and had the car back to sort these, and did plenty of other things for me whilst I had it back with him.

Now its had

1) Fan swapped to opposite side of rad, and new bigger fan fitted. New rad cap fitted

2) Thermostat position on rad changed

3) New wiring for oil temp, water temp , and bat volt VDO gauges run.

4) Bigger battery

5) Loads of little tweaks in engine here and there, tidying of small finite details etc

6) New solenoid and popper fitted for smoothed tailgate to open

7) Complete new set of VDO gauges

Got the gauges from funk-star (classic-vw) and highly recommend them

8) Raised the suspension front and back, just to make the ride slightly smoother and keep some clearance of centre exhaust section on speed bumps etc

9) New seats fitted

10) New front and rear interior cards fitted

11) New custom final section rear interior cards in black vinyl made

12) I have fitted some carb trumpet gauzes just to eliminate as much bad stuff going into engine as possible

On my "to do list next" fit a set of nearly new Hella H4 headlamps I managed to get, buy a genuine grill as the one on it does not look too great, paint a bracket holding the rad at the front black as its silver and really! annoying me, and get a whole weekend free and give it a real deep clean and some treatment with some new cleaning gear i've stocked up on.
