Thanks mate, I've gone for standard settings for a GTI model and lifted the suspension so that the wishbones are horizontal. I haven't had the suspension professionally adjusted yet.

I have a few tools to get it roughly setup.

Going to see how that goes as have to check that the strings and dampening rates are OK for the additional weight.

If you find any information let me know 👍

It's been a little while since I last posted.

The Golf is pretty much done now and in hibernation for the winter. I have a few things to do and will post when I have something interesting :)I have been busy sorting out the garage and building storage. I've tried to keep everything away from the walls so the full width can be used.

Few more things to do and everything against the wall at the back are all the parts from my old car (83 mars red gti) I'm going to sell or chuck depending on the condition.

Anyway this is how it is now.

Hi mate! So glad ive come across this thread! I’m renovating a lhasa green gti at mo but keeping it completely standard.

However im just painting my mk1 Csddy in Manilla green snd bought a porsche cayenne 3.2 engine to go in (same as R32 but for manifold and few bits) … i’ll read every word of this thread of course but is there any way of contacting you for a chat?

I’m a big fan of the VR6 since a teenager (old git now) and just finished an R36 dsg 4 wheel drive conversion on my Caddy 2k. Follow me on insta and message me if you can! @caddyr36

Will read this with passion

Small update.

Built a false floor using hardwood marine ply so that there is clearance from the top of the battery and also so that there is storage space in the boot :) IMG_20201016_163836873.jpg   IMG_20201017_163949253.jpg
Got a stainless plate laser cut to fit the ash tray area for my gauges:

Let me know how you get on with the CanChecked, as I'm planning on getting one of these too

Does it connect via the ODB port or direct to canbus cables?

Hey guys bit of a delay in content.

So here it is ;) IMG_20210330_131713099_HDR.jpg

Looking really good mate! Good with an update from you :)

I'm strugling with my clutch, First I had alot of vibrations and then changed to orignal weight flywheel. But then my clutch wouldn't re-engage instantly when pushing the engine (like over 4000 RPM) So it would slip for 2-3 sec and then engage, reallt annoying. Now I bought another new clutch and will got that balanced with the light flywheel, lets see what happen :)

How is your experience witrh the Forge filter kit? Have you made the inlet in front yourself ? Did you compare it with and normal open filter inside the bay ? If not, it could be nice to compare Inlet Air temperatures, if you can read those some how ? :) I have a open filter and I suspect that why I have a dip in torque in low end RPM.

Anyway, glad to see the car again mate, lets hope for a nice summer time with these little pocket rockets :D

Hey chap thanks for the kind comments. That's not so good about your clutch. I will let you know as of Tuesday how mine is. There is no vibration from mine but a tiny bit of chatter but you expect that when you have a solid flywheel and not a dual mass type.

I guess if it still causes an issue then there is the option of going 02M and dual mass like factory but I know you have heavily invested in that box with an LSD.

I hope you get to the bottom of it, let me know how you get on.

I don't have a method of measuring the temperature of the air intake but it's a sealed system to the throttle body so must be keeping the temperature down compared to an open type.

I didn't want to suffer heat soak so went sealed. I modified the forge plastic intake vent so instead of being horizontal it is vertical and fits between the headlight and radiator all the way up to the front grille.

I'll take a pic later

Sounds awesome mate. Hopefully I get mine together again later this week :)

What is you thoughts about the original Airfilter box ? I thinking about getting one of those with a KN filter added It might be the best solution for me, but I don't wanna loose to many HP :D

I kind of regret not going the DSG way with the gearbox, but as you say, i'm too heavly invested in the 02A and also the added weight is a big downside for me.

Keep up the good work :)

I did have an original air box but not sure if I got rid of it. I will have a look in the shed  :thumbs:Tommy what pressure rating is your coolant reservoir cap? I have an 18-22lb one and I noticed it overflowed the other day when I had my MOT once I parked up. The reservoir is custom so could be I over filled it as I have no indication of where to fill to.

The coolant temperature was really good so not sure if the one I have is right.

I passed my MOT though with no advisories, result :)I'll get some footage later this week  ;)

So I've had a few outings since the MOT and absolutely loving it but there were a few snagging bits.

The alloy expansion tank was not fit for purpose and didn't have enough capacity. I've installed a mk2 expansion tank on a custom bracket to the stock mk1 location. I wasn't expecting to mount anything in that location so stupidly removed the mk1 bracket even though I have a genuine mk1 expansion tank. I think there is room for improvement but it's fit for purpose and works perfectly :)The other issue was trying to remake the intake pipe work and I have managed to get it all working with a 9" servo and the large expansion tank. Result .

Sorry already gone. Was no good for a VR6 with 11 litres of coolant, a 500ml tank is not larger enough for drawback and expansion.
