This was Jame's old car if i'm correct ? pretty sure he only finished about 8 weeks ago , just before Stanford hall.
Is he restoring a series 1 swallowtail now chris ?  Great looking car !!

Ad.

I think it was his dad Marks car and its not long been finished, it's only been at 2 shows.

James still has his, his Mum has one and they also have the swallowtail to turn their attention to now.

GX has sold to Barry from Dunfermline for him to use until his s1 GTI is on the road after restoration.

Once I get it give me a shout and I can meet u ?
We get together the second Wednesday of the month at the Steading on the A702 at Hillend.  Bring it along on 9 July or 12 august after 8pm so we can all get a look. Cheers.

So the s1 should be with me this Friday afternoon :-)

It's being transported up to save the mileage on the car as it would be a son to put on 400 miles in 1 journey after 31k in 34 years.

Its a pity I can't meet the current owners to talk through the car but it's just too long a journey to nip down :-)

Hopefully I will see Mark and James at the AGM.

The car will come with all handbooks and a disc full of resto pics which will be great to see as the original condition was not poor in the first place I believe, it was just Mark and James's choice to return the car to its original glory.

It also should be going on the club stand at the Glamis Castle Classic car show on the Sunday for its first Scottish outing.

Looks good mate :)

I saw this on Facebook (in the pics it had a set of BBS)
Good to see its gone to a good home!!

Whats your plans for it? Keeping it standard?

When you get the car could you do me a massive favour and take a pic of the radio? wanna compare.

The car with the bbs is James car, this is his dads, Marks car which has always been on steelies.

They have 4 mk1's, a swallowtail under resto, James 1980 s2, my 1980 s1 and another s1 that is James mums.

It's staying as if is for shows and keeping in perfect condition.

If I don't send a pic just remind me again after I get it :-)

Cheers Dave

It will be late Fri night as it was meant to get picked up tonight at 2100 but the M11 is shut and the transport company couldn't get their car dropped off tonight.

So it will get picked up tomorrow mid morning for its 400 mile drive North.

So Sat morning pics me thinks :-)

The GX gets picked up Tomorrow night by Baz and he is taking it to the AGM :-)
