You have done it and have me motivated to start working on my daughter's 81 Rabbit again!

Super, super progress. Not sure how you make such good progress every day.

Keep posting. It is fun just watching your build.

Today we fitted the rearview mirror and sun visors and the little hooks on the b pillar.

After adjusting the gaps between the hood and the side panels, we fitted the front bumper and lip.
We might buy some bumpers with the chrome trim when we find some good ones.

Side trim mounted after we sprayed the inside of the sill with hollow wax :)

And finally we mounted the rear exhaust,

Today we installed the fuel filler neck. When we started rebuilding the car we couldn't find the little foam spacer.

Fuel cap installed

In the evening our friend helped us getting our engine back together.
All pistons installed, bolts threaded in to clean threads.

Head gasket in place

New waterpump and belt

Sump and belt covers in place.

New fuel pump and inlet manifold with carb fitted

Waterpipe, outlet manifold, warm air deflector plate with pipe and air filter housing  fitted.

Tomorrow we will fit the alternator, gearbox and some other small parts ;)

We also fitted a new oil seal in our gearbox
Old one out

All done!

We also got some copper nuts for our outlet manifold

We were lucky to be able to lend a motor crane of one of the salespersons form our local auto parts shop

And finally we fitted the flywheel back.
We wanted to fit the clutch too but ran out of brake cleaner.. guess we'll get some tomorrow :)

Yesterday we started fitting the clutch back on the engine.

Transmission mounted!

With the help of some friend we were able to fit the engine quite easily back into the car.

Driveshafts bolted back on

Radiator mounted,

Today we started the engine for the first time.
We first had some trouble with the contact breaker but later on we found out our condensator was faulty.
And finally we had some trouble with the carburator floater valve, which we'll have to replace.

And finally we replaced the transmission oil

ps, Looks like most of my picture won't load. I went over my 10GB bandwidth of photobucket. So I made a new account ;)Photo's will be back when my accounts bandwidth resets.

Since the car is watertight. we decided to remove the tent we used to work on the car :)Also figured out why our blinkers weren't working, our hazard lights button is faulty, this meant we couldn't use the blinkers.
A new switch and it'll be fixed.

And finally also fitted a new condensator for the contact breaker. Now we're waiting for the needle valve..
