dubboy - S1, early hard top???
                      • Standard GTI, hard top
                      • Standard cabriolet,
                      • Modified?

Should have a choice of standard S1 GTis..if I finish the new project

has anyone ever tried contacting VW to see if they can loan stand setup material. Or sponser.

Looking at the stand next door, they must have some support from BMW, all that alu framing and posters. Deign of it may be a little hit and miss but perhaps VW would consider something similar.

Just had a confirmation from Bert that we could use his 5 door diesel… with a modern TDi engine as a twist for the 'family' car aspect.

Rajan…. pull your finger out then!!!!

djh…. If we were to get VW to do anything I think it would be a right achievement. Lets get the Gathering out of the way and we'll press on with the NEC then.

There's a talk at Lancaster Museum on Monday 22/6/09 on the 50 years of the motorway. A bloke who built them will be speaking and there is a display in the museum. I'm going to go along and have a listen seeing as it's on my doorstep AND where the motorways began (Preston 1958).

Anyone else fancy it who's local???? (Yes, I know I lead an exciting life!   )

Firstly, how much space do we have?

Got the answer today…….

12m x 9m =108sqmtrs.

I can't even visualise that without measuring it out first. Rajan, do you have any idea from last year as to how what size we had then.

Dano, i thought i left you the info from the last 2 years, this had the plans from 2008 and 2007 and how we set out the cars.

We have also booked electric in the past. best get in early as the price goes up the longer you leave it.

It may be an idea to have "back up" cars just in case you get let down (It may happen again)

I've never been to this show so can't pitch in at what is good or bad about it but some more ideas would be good.

Gammy, your pictures look good, how would they be displayed, any thoughts?

Does this help,  just a few layout ideas for you :D

These are very nice but don't actually allow any space for people to walk around the cars!

I'd suggest a simple layout with the cars in a line or slightly staggered allowing visitors to actually walk around plus leaving space for anyone manning the stand to… Well, stand, don't forget we will also need to sell Merchandise and Memberships so we'll need space for all of that too!

Thanks Ant,

I'll have another look through the red file again. I was concentrating on the AGM stuff when I last looked at it.

If space is an issue then we could just have 4 cars displayed  :dontknow:

Electric wise, I'll look through the terms and conditions again. What did you run last year, the TV??? If so what was featured because I haven't got any dvds with programmes on them.

Cheers James, it helps to see things like that.

Yeah it was more to show what could be done with the space.  Like you say it needs to have space for people to walk around & see what merchandise they can get.  Would also be good to make it not so bad for people to take photos of the cars. The other thing with the layout is going to be how many sides of the stand are open.

I have never been to classic car show before but do stands not sell merchandise etc?  You may have already done this before but I couldnt see really from the 2005 show picture. Just an idea.  Also I only live 10 mins down the road so if you need any help I can be there all weekend.  Just let me know.

Not forgotten about this show - just been waiting for a reply from the organisers re any wall space.

We have a 4 sided 'open' stand so any display material will need to be hung/framed somehow. We also have a couple of cassette banners that are outdated now so I've asked the Committee what they think about refurbing them.
Display cars are going to have to be TOP condition I think,

Dubboy - how's the early Series 1 coming along please?
Tian - you still in for your late cabby?
DaveM (or another standard later Series 2 hard top) - are you still in?
Bert - same with you're diesel (and possibly trailer tent!)
? - standard cabby

Helpers who have offered
daz1971 - Thanks
Ghia - Thanks

Anymore ideas for a stand display gratefully received!
