Exhaust manifold

Post

Hi all currently over hauling the 1.8 8v carb engine out of the 91 cab and noticed the exhaust manifold has split. Was thinking of replacing it with a stainless steal system but am struggling to find anything, or the ones I have found I'm unsure as to whether they will fit?

Has as anyone had the same issues or can they advice me as to what they are running them selves?.
Thanks

If you mean cracked, that is quite common.
The 90's had a Cost reduced version.

I have replaced all 3 of my Cabbies with a variety of things.

2 have the g60 4-2 manifold with a dual down pipes, one TT tunning stainless Steel 2 to 1, and 1 has custom built 2 to 1 or dual down.

One I had used a pacesetter header that had to be modded to work around the pw-steering and sway.

I have a Raceland SS Cat Delete Header that will be installed as soon as I get my car past the 25th year emission which is next year.

Cracked mani on 90ish

pcesetter.

g60 4-2 manifold and down pipe, I had my muffler guy build a dual down for it… Total cost from Wreckers, and muffler shop @ 100 USD.
Cost of the g60 4-2 manifold and dual down from tt-tunning was about 400USD.

Raceland cat delete header to be installed 6/30/2017.  ;)

Ah, don't forget that the Cabriolet was built with most of the GTI setup after 83, and the raceland cat delete is just that.  I live in a ECO-Nazi Area where the cars emissions are tested for 25 years after manufacture.

So you have to keep them tuned and emissions enabled.
(buy the cheap cats about every 3 years.).  Now I buy one, and swap it between cars, then hang a straight pipe after the test.

A UK car built in 91 does not need a cat so you can get rid of it if you wish.
VW just started to fit them to later cars as it was becoming law to have a cat fitted, I think it's cars registered from 92 which need one.
I had a 91 J Reg Honda Civic DOHC VTEC and removed to cat for a straight through exhaust and never had a problem with MOTs, 160bhp from a 1.6 engine was fun to drive but it all happened above 5,000 rpm so felt wrong screaming it to the 8,000 red line but that's when it flew..  :ninja:
