Best way to Descale water pipe connections?

the problem I have found with Jubliee clips are that they tighten down out of round.  Especially on smaller diameter of hoses.  Using them can cause leaks, and when honking down on them when they are attached to older brittle plastic can crack the plastic.

The Spring Clips are a pain to get on and off, but they hold the hoses tighter under expansion and contraction of the metal or plastic and actually cause less strain.

On the smaller diameter of hoses a fuel hose clamp works better, as it circumferentially closes.  If you tighten a small Jubliee it doesn't and actually causes the hose to pucker.

There are on-line stores that sell the Spring clamps, they have been around for a long time, and some restoration shops sell more of them for those that are re-building Muscle Cars over on this side of the pond.  US automakers used a rounded spring instead of the flat type that the uk/germans used.
