It's one of those if seems ok then dont worry.. I just know mine was air tight at 1 point and stressed the pump until fuse went pop.  Not all of my cars behave the same, some seem to pressure and others not..I know the caps can be vented versions

Waxed it , twice, not that I'm bored, oh no, not me, I was then so busy I had to sit and watch an ant traverse my patio, several times. Nope, I'm not bored and missing driving my cars, no not at all!

Thanks guys. It’s a little puff of pods it I’ve pressure. Therefore tank is able to draw air in but lot let it out.

I don’t think this is unusual for a mk1 GTI but if someone knows better / more I shall gladly take some knowledge.

This has been argued over the year. My GTI makes a whoose noise when I remove the cap, which I assume to be outwards, has for the last 21 years I owned it and runs fine.

1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

What did you do to your Mk1 Golf Today ?

Slackens the track rod ends ready to have tracking done ( don’t trust garage monkeys). Friend and failed to get the camber right. At least the nuts and bolts are loose. Drove it for about a 5 mile test drive. Then washed and waxed it.

Two coats of primer over last two days

Started off to fix the pull up lock on the drivers door. That took too long. Then decided to fix the one dodgy waste line clip and give it a vacuum. After all that went for a little ‘test’ drive.

Oh and maybe a beer on the front for VE Day.

Over 40s for cars is like pensioners. No Tax to pay and no MOT required.

Mine hits the milestone on November 1st.

Don’t tell the wife then it’s a little more money fo parts

Good call. She looks like beauty. I was hoping you were going to say it's up for sale.

Spent the time on everyone else’s cars.
But had a cheeky drive in mine to get some parts.

Where does one get a red screen wash cap?

Whip
/wip/
Noun - Car

When the steering wheel was first put into use in automobiles, it was called the whip. The term has now been generalised to classify any automobile.

Am I join in. Mine is blue to (da la Dee da la da….)

Seriously I have bigger issues that a washer bottle top can’t wait until that my priority in my golf. Rear beam, 9 inch servo, 22mm master cylinder, refurbished some RAs come way before my washer bottle.

Need to stop messing about with things which are not broken.
