Had a mess around today with all cars on my drive.. first trying to sort non working washer on sportline. Fail….😫 so changed to polo steering wheel for something to do. … snowy I pulled side trims off removed seats.and started to prep for paint job… new clips to be sorted… caster well I looked and looked bit more I cant decide whether to take out the rivage seats that need refurb..and fit a set that's off colour. I wanted brown or tan.but they came blue grey… and my donor gls.i ripped dash out. Sill trims. Heater matrix and box. Steering column. Clocks. Basically I've got a early cabby roof and some cuts to make then search for scrap van..

Well gave in a little bit..waiting for materials. So with that in mind I changed interior on castor. From brown grey brown stripe cards and tan rivage. To a grey and blue stripe with matching cards and seats.

Pulled the s1 gti out of the garage after over a year restoration work. Another 6 months and might be somewhere near.

Well pre mot checks started to go well then soon went pear shaped… oils checked, battery charged and charging, bulbs and wipers, horn checked, car warming up checked….wait oh he's getting a bit hot.

Expansion tank full of sludge and no flow from expansion hose.
Whip off tank got a spare laying around. Whip of pipes and flush with water.
Everything running through ok..less sludge.. so all back on try car again starts up still low flow…so thinking to warm up some more and they add wynns flush. But noticed that left jubilee clip off so , turn off car and fit. Start car again to let heat and pressure build see if helps flushing with warm water… pop..fizzle… a sound and then nothing car won't start. Pull fuses all ok..try ignition module on other car, works ok. Try pulling leads, not ok..king lead snapped in coil. So swapped for one from other car..with coil until fixed. Still not starting.
Then notice melted black wire…from coil. So set about trying to trace it back…

So mot cancelled for my caster for now.

You need the patience of a saint for that job. I have been putting mine off but have seen you can buy vinyl transfers to go on top of the old lettering. 2nd attempt was taped and painted in 60 mins. Looks better especially round the G.
Saw the transfers but since have some time and rattle tin silver. Thought give it a try.
Now busy boxing parts for refurb and paint. Also started to separate burnt loom see how far I get before I start to cry.

I don't envy you I hate electrics it takes forever and rarely works first time, give me a spanner and a hammer any day. Still rather wire something than sand for paint (just)

After my long illness, I took mine out for a short run and came across this!



Don't see one of those every day, well not in Austria 🇦🇹  😉

After a busy but great day with byrneybob yesterday I had a lie in.
Then got up and washed the Rivage.
Used some caravan cleaner on the roof as it was getting green lichen on it.
Will need a couple of goes with it lol.
Just waiting for it to dry.. Then top down, tunes on woop woop!

I used mine yesterday to "Fetch" some 1x2x8's 5 of them.

There was a guy that was saying how am I going to cart these home.  I dropped the top, placed then in the footwell and bungied the boards to the  roll bar.

I told the guy, this is VW's Vertible.  It is a Car, It is a Vert, and in a pinch it is a Truck. The original "Transformer".

I don't look at mine, I drive it.   Top Down (when not raining) Tunes up, and I usually get more than 50 smiles per gallon.
