Golf GLi

I have been looking for a a spare decal for my Golf for some time. Everywhere i look all I see is either GTi or GL but I have never seen a GLi badge.
I am going to restore my original badge as the silvering has rubbed, which I know is normal over time, but i would like to get a hold of a spare one. good nick if possible but thats not as important as just getting the badge. Ant suggestions welcomed.  IMG_5375.jpg

Or go to your local sign making shop and ask them to cut some lettering for you. Normally small businesses and really helpful. Just google sign writing or similar to find one near you.

See this thread that point to a video,  Oren, is a wiz at CIS tuning….

Restoring Old badges - This Old Motor | VW Vortex - Volkswagen Forum

He's the original poster of the Heat Soak Issue /Relay.

I have re-claimed mine a couple of different ways.

1. Sand and clean the whole Badge.
2. Paint the While Badge to the color that you want, ie: chrome, white, Red…..
3. After it was dry, then spray with 2-3 coats of clear.
4. After the Clear dries Paint the whole badge with Satin Black .
5. Using 2-3000 grit wet/dry in a pan of water, turn the badge face down, and sand the black off the face a little at a time, the clear coat will keep the base color white from sanding off.

Second way,

I sprayed the badges sating black 3 coats.
I then Gold Leafed the raised letters with gold leaf adhesive, and Gold leaf.  I used a specific clear over them as the regular clear reacted with the leaf it lasted about 12 years before I had to re-do them.

Here are the pics of both ways, The white ones werr as described in the first, they were also glued using clear silicone,,,,,Yep it was totaled.
