Fuel tank replacement

What a great idea..

The little tab on the bottom of the handbrake looks like it's bent back, it's there to stop the cable bracket falling of the bottom.

It could be wrong as it's hard to see from the picture angle.

If you have a look at the picture of the handbrake in the link you will see the tab pointing forward.

Mine broke off when I tried to bend it back up and now have some cable ties holding the bracket up, once the plastic covers on you can't see them.

Thank you

Yes bent it back as i made the bracket at an extra 10mm only so had to fit the bracket to cables then pry it onto the handbrake.

All bent into correct position again.

Recommend 15mm extension.

Works great and I can now use standard cables

Need to re-bleed the brakes still very spongy pedal but now I have a hand brake I know the callipers are set correctly.

So not been on hear for ages.  Moving house this week. Covered the golf over in November with a slight leak on a brake hose and needing to bleed the brakes.  Pleased to say I found 2 leaks and have sorted them + bled all brakes. The peddle is now unbelievable- really high up brake point and stops very well. Time away over past few months had me wanting to sell it. Just got fed up with every time i did one job another would appear. Anyhow cant wait to drive it to the new house and get enjoying again.

Not sure why I ended up revisiting this thread, but glad I did as it is a great read. The trials and tribulations of a classic car in 4 pages!
Did you get everything sorted in the end and are thrashing it round the country side?

Fuel tank replacement

Cheers bud.

So just removed the inline pressure regulators. B1TCH of a little job. But mad some short section up and now need to bleed them. Tomorrow job. Got a small leak on the return fuel line which I need to cut and reform the end.

Then indeed may get to drive the god forsaken thing again.

Glad you have enjoyed my frustrations it’s all worth it once the jobs are done it’s just finding the time and weather to allow it.
