Hmmmm now that's a good question, Iooking at 1974 as year of manufacture for a Golf L we have 1 taxed and 2 SORN. If we go to date of first registration we have for 1974 0 taxed and 1 SORN which would suggest you are correct and it would appear in 1975.

No, it's just UK registered cars be they sold here or imported. They didn't start selling the Golf in RHD format until October 1974 so yours has got to be one of the oldest remaining examples having been registered only a couple of months later. I'd always favour a RHD car over LHD, part of the reason I've never been taken with the golf rallye, it's not the £30k+ asking price at all

£15k and probably double it. I'm just in the process of a nut and bolt refurbishment (not a restoration) on a Subaru and it's about that with no welding or paint work required. It does include an engine rebuild mind.
