Painting late cabriolet side moldings

My front wing side molding has started to peel very slightly showing the chrome under the black paint.

Any advice on Painting the side moldings  ?  undercoat + Matt black ?    I'm also on the hunt for a replacement as I can imagine this one repainted strip might look a bit out of place with the other 5 - 29 year old weathered side moldings…

That isn't black paint on the totally black waist trim, it is a thin Vinyl rubber.

What I have done in the past is use Vinyl Dye, Plasti-dip spray, and or electrical tape.  With tape you have to roll it totally out to length then about 6 inches, allow the tape to relax, as you stretch it as you unroll it, then apply.
