Hi,

Just wonder if the scuttle rain covers should come with a clear plastic cover to the left of the tray over the vin number or is this just left open?

Scuttle Rain Cover

Mine is original and pretty bad shape but has a ‘clear’ section. Although it’s more yellow and crusty now.

not sure if the new ones come with the clear plastic cover… even from the original VW website in Germany… less than £20 to buy though carriage may be close to €10.. see if Classic VW (Mark Carter) has any… https://www.classic-vw.co.uk/

My 1990 Cabby had the clear window over the Vin area of the Scuttle.

MK1engineering makes a good quality scuttle cover either full size for a/c or the shortie for non-a/c but it doesn't have the clear over the vin

It is a higher gauge of plastic than the thin things of OEM

Clear plastic on original, but new are moulded without the clear, if you want cut a milk bottle and glue on to the new plastic, will be about same colour as 40yr cxxp..  its meant to be clear to read vin.
