Post

As per title, anyone running this combo on their Mk1?

Found some one wheels for my cabriolet but it’s been a while since i got involved in all this et/offset business lol

so im a bit unsure if 18 is doable with this width

any help or guidance appreciated

car is lowered already but will be going on coil overs for final appearance purposes, just need to get the right rims that will give me the least hassle

Depends how low you want to go.

But in a nutshell, and imo of course, they won't work.

Then I like my Mk1's super low with tucked wheels… some like the wide stance arch gap look.

Erm . . . Possibly,  the rears should be ok.
But the fronts will be close!

Im running 15x8 et25. Im lowered 60 rear 30 front on AP Racing shocks and springs.

The only arch interference I get is if I hit a compression dip on a fast bit of road and the rears will just brush the plastic arches but my rear mounts are very tired so this could probably be cured.

The fronts are fine but I think another 5mm they may not be.

If you ran a 185/45 (which I did on my 15x7's) you'll be fine but personally I dont like the look on the 8" rim

Ignore the scrubbed sidewall the tyres were part worn

Thanks for the reply's guys

Yeah I'm a bit dubious about the fronts and calliper clearance

Don't want to have to push them out further with a 5mm spacer

I'm in a dilemma 😂 go wide and reasonably low, or tucked and loooooow

I'm fine with both looks tbh, I'm thinking wide is my preference having had low cars they are a pain to drive anywhere 😂

This car had 8 and 9 j rims on when i got it, so it's had some arch work already, the casting on them wheels was so bad though  i couldn't make out what the off set was on them though lol

May just run the gauntlet with 8's all round and see! Nothing that a spacer or grinder can't sort out is it  :ninja:

Brakes shouldn't be an issue unless bigger than standard

No worries, dont know what wheels 1985 is running? They look like schmidts

But be wary of stuttgarts they have savage offset and casting on the back in my experience!

My cabby had 8 & 9j 16 st4's on when i got it, they didnt fit without spacers on the front or rears, rears hit the beam without them and the fronts hit the calipers

I think they were et20? Cannot be sure as the casting was so bad on them i couldnt read it!

These are John Brown wheels but I dont know the model name but they are schmidt reps basicly.

Deano777 they wont work with coilovers, there clearance is too close in the inside of the rim.
I changed from coilovers to shocks so I could run the wheels.
