Footman James not insuring LHD

Just been to get a quote from footman James to find that they have a new legislation that means they can’t insure my LHD, is there any other cheap classic car insurers??

Apparently if your car is not over 30 years old they can’t offer any cover which is a load of rubbish I’ve been using them for the last 3 years

So it's the Company and not national "Legislation"! 😂

But this issue relates to age and doesn't address LHD issue.

It's also their right to run the business as they see fit and if they are happy and their customer base is so full that they can now pick and choose who they want to Insure good luck to them.
The reason I picked this up is because we have a handful of Members who own LHD Mk1's.

We also have a number of Paid Advertiser's from the world of Insurance. So it would be good to have some feedback from them on both issues but I'm not sure they will follow the forum in the way we do.

Maybe we can ask the all knowing and all round good guy Andy Hairyarse our Club Secretary for his insight on this, which is putting him on the spot a bit, sorry Andy! 😉

I thought it was because of that until I ask for more information about this new legislation so it’s nothing to do with LHD, also can anyone recommend any other classic car insurance Lancaster quoted me £1674

That's crazy, my last premium with them was £125 on my mk1…. And that was with a 9k agreed value!

We've had a few members being told about this 30 year thing. When we've quizzed FJ about it they say that's not the case but refused for other reasons - go figure!

I think it has to be a case of either calling them again or just shopping around elsewhere. As you say Mike, maybe they're just being picky about which cars they insure now?
