1980's GTI-Engineering Italvolanti Formel Steering Wheel... SOLD

Features in the 1983 GTI-Engineering catalogue for the MK1.

Takes a standard 6 x bolt Italvolanti pattern hub, readily available from all the usual sources both secondhand and new.

Made of very high quality calfskin leather on an aluminium frame in 36 cm diameter. Noticeably fatter rim than a standard wheel

Manufacturing date 28/11/1984.

Not new, but may as well be so… Barely a mark on it save for some very minor rubbing on the rear where the boss meets the wheel… all of which will be hidden when mounted on one again.

The leather is original, soft and damage free.

All stitching is present, tight and straight with no frays or snags.

Silver embossing is flawless, crisp and sharp.

Horn buttons also like new.

The Formel is a genuinely scarce wheel, but in this condition and being one that was marketed by GTi-Engineering it becomes even more so.

A rare sight indeed and in such beautiful condition.
Whoever buys that will clearly not be disappointed.
Can't remember seeing one in recent years looking as good as that one does!
