Mk1 cabby roof tension cable

Post

So I'm sure there are a load of threads on fitting a new hood tension cable and which are the best ones to buy.

I've had my car for a couple of weeks and the cable has rusted and broken so I'm  just looking for advice on the best one and kind to purchase.

But really to see if anybody in north Essex or south Suffolk could help me fit it correctly or any specialists who would do it for me as I'm sure it's a job that is easier by far if you've done a handful already. My worry is if I mess it up badly it's a new roof I'm going to be after.

Thanks in advance.

There's cables and there's cables.
They vary in price and fit for purpose.
I fit hoods all the time and I've used just about all of them.
Some have copied cables but they are taken from old stretched ones and non sleeved tend to pop out the rear cable channel.
If you want the proper one message me on here and I can sort you one out. And explain the process so it's straight forward with no complicated steps.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

I guess you are talking about your side tension cables?

I tried a couple of types from eBay and they both rusted and broke within 9 months of fitting.
Bought my own stainless steel, plastic coated cable (stuff they use on boats) and made my own, works out alot cheaper and so far they have lasted 5 years and still no signs of rust!
