Geating it running

So I git this gifted to me in the winter. It had not run in 15 years, so I had my work cut out.
It had an original lead acid Sinclair battery, obviously knackered, got rid of that, got rid of the original ignition barel too. I wired it up to run twin batteries fir longevity, got hold of 2 lithium iron batteries which are perfect.
I replaced all 3 tyres and inner tubes, replaced the front brake pads, greased all the bearings, fitted a safety flag, fitted an led headlight…….done ! And I love it ! Yet to ride it to work though !

Nice little project.

I wonder if you could fit a motor from a g-wiz in it? or maybe twin motors. You could create the first C5 that's a sleeper

… after a little bit of googling apparently 24v turbo upgrade is the way to go, boosting the speed from 15mph to 30mph, with better acceleration

So i took it for a spin again the other evening, hoping to get some miles on it……….one thing is for sure, i will not be riding this to work ever !  I did 2 miles, got cramp in the thumb from holing the button down, my legs were knackered from peddling so much as the crank throw is really short, my bum hurt from getting a pounding (insert jokes) as there's zero suspension.  And to top it off, i got a fly in my eye !  So its doing nothing now !

Well it must have been a kamikaze fly because at the speed you were going it had hours to get out of your way! 😉😂

Russ a long time ago I was riding my BSA starfire around the little country lanes beside the river Test in Hampshire.
Not doing more than 35/40 mph, nice summers day and I was wearing an open face helmet with a clear visor. When a Hornet nailed me right between the eyes.

The impact was like a .22 hollow point bullet.
I must have been relaxed thank god because the impact had me straight off the back and on my butt sitting on the road, my bike went on for about 50/70 yards and just fell over into the grass verge with no real damage.

Visor was smashed and my butt and back hurt for a week but it just goes to show what all these little büggers are capable of!

I love when I get to use this little guy!   :ocf_emoticons__offtopic:

I must admit for a design that's a few decades old, it still looks remarkably modern, you've done a great job of restoring it.
