'H' - Block EG Information

Hi All!

After some information on the EG coded block, with the 'H' stamp on it.

I previously had an EG block with 1.6 stamped on it, but had to scrap it due to unrepairable cracks. Picked this new one up recently and noticed the 'H' in place of the '1.6'.

What's the difference, and why does it exist?

More importantly, can I use my other 1.6 stamped EG block internals with it. Pistons, crank, big end caps etc. etc.

Thanks everyone, and looking forward to hearing what you know!

Richard

I'm not a massive expert on the H blocvks, did a little googleing and people say they are a bit better than the originals, but less desirable if you're a purist?

anyway I did a couple part number searches for the crank, rods, bearings,  pistons and they all come back as being the same from 75-83 EG engine code.  This still isnt a 100% cast iron garauntee they'll be ok as ETKA sometimes has errors in it, but I'd be pretty sure you'll be ok :)

I think the H block is stronger around the crank journals and is less prone to twisting under very high power.
The racers prefered the H block.
