A pillar trim fitting (1558537065A)

The new trim I have from vwheritgae is tool long and the wrong shape

Hi all…someone?

I paid £26.80 for a new a pillar trim from vwheritage - a lot for a reproduction bit of plastic.

I had expected to be able to clip it on quite simply but it is too long and is not 'curvy' enough at the top such that you can't just clip it on.

I dare say I could apply some persuasion with a heat gun to bend it to fit and a healthy dose of superglue to persuade it to stay fitted but why doesn't it fit?…it is specifically for a golf mk1 cabby…has anyone else had this problem?

Here's the bit on vwheritage's site…

cheers

Dang I usually find that at the breakers, and I have taken to Gluing it on as I don't want it to be removed by prying hands, or by just falling off.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

The advert on VW Heritage does state that it will require some cutting.
I did the drivers side and it did require about 6 inches off and some shaping.
Getting it on is an art in itself. I slid it up from the bottom, but found it got stuck half way. I ended up opening if out a little and rolling it over the gutter. I put glue inside the gutter first to hold it in place.
