my mk1 progress so far updated 09-04-07

Well after a bit of work today  my mk1 is ready for its MOT, its by no way finished, but its almost on the road at last!!!

This weekend i have fitted a lot of GTI parts, including Seats, Steering wheel Dash Surround, center conul, including 3 dials (not working yet)

Ive found a set of GTI door cards, to be fitted at a later date.

I managed to fix my horn and hazard warning lights, as you can see from the photos there is a lot left to do, but im getting there slowly.

BTW its only a 1.1c, but i love it

looking good whats hiding in the garage ?

yeh man that looks awesome, love the fact that ur restoring a small engine on like me too! gotta be done, looks like a good shell once the surface rust is taken car of, few tiny parts, lick of paint, shed b looking awesome, even if u dont change the wheels or lower it, i love the 'lanky' loook of a lower model mk1 golf

I have to say I agree. You see loads of GTis and I know I'm not one to talk but it's nice to see something else that's getting some much needed TLC. Well  done and good luck with the MOT.

Thanks Guys, i would have prefered a Driver, i think they have better rust protection than the lower specs, and they dont get abused like the GTI's, but this one hasnt got a sunroof so thats cool.

I cant wait to get it on the road now, i may give it a wash today to see how it comes up.

The car in the garage is a NGTC withe aRover V8, my dads toy.

I have managed to do a litle bit more today,
First off i have fitted a set of driver dials, so i now have a rev counter and a clock

Then i fitted a CD player, although i only have two speekers at the moment  

I had a go at getting the VDO dials working, but im not quite there yet, altyhough i do now have a volt meter


Then i fitted my GTI door card, so i now have a longer handle, place for the adjuster for the wing mirror, and place for another speeker

and last but not least, my all red rear lights, i just love the look of these over standard


more to come, and one day i willl wash and hover it!!!
