mk1 rivage S3 conversion

Hi guys and girls i have a 1992 mk1 rivage and my damaged 2001 S3 and me an a friend are in the process of doing the conversion on the golf. He has done the 1.8t conversion on his corrado but advises me the mk1 is much different i need a little help as to what engine mounts i can use for this conversion my friend says he can weld mk4 mounts into the chassis legs of the mk1 and also i want to convert to power steering does anyone know what rack to use and if i i buy engine mount kits etc any help would be appreciated. There have been some problems getting the 20vT tech guide onto the website so there's a few others you can try in the meantime:

AFAIK for the engine mount, you use the Mk1 Golf one on the right (driver's side) and the transmission mounts - if you stick with the 020 trans then use the big block tranny mounts, if you use the 02A/J trans then use or fabricate your own conversion mounts. An eBay search should find you some. Unsure if the S3 has a 6 speed manual box, if it does then I've heard there's packaging issues fitting it into the Mk1.

There will be loads of questions though so try a search (lots of helpful stuff already) or ask away in the modified section!!

Hi thanks for that i will be using an 02j gearbox out of a mk4 gti so it looks like i will have to fabricate the mounts, (maybe weld them out of the mk4 into my legs) Do you know how to convert to power steering ive been told a mk3 rack  should fit with some small mods.

See other post - the Mk3 rack is completely different and won't fit without lots of fiddling.
