I also noticed today as I had the window open that at lower speeds 20-30 mph I can hear a click/tap noise when on light throttle, it goes away when accelerating or throttle off and slowing down, the faster I go the faster the clicking so it’s drive related.
Is it something I can do or is it a gearbox rebuild?
I did check over the gearbox when I put it in the car, new drive shaft seal, I had to swop the flanges over to 100mm as it was fitted with 90mm flanges, new input seal and bush, new thrust bearing, checked the push rod and fully synthetic oil so I know the basics of a gearbox but I’ve not ventured inside one….
Whats your thought…

It's. VW 020 6W gearbox which I think came out of a Monteago (I cant find much info online) but not 100% sure as it's 2nd hand to me, It had 90mm flanges and the bigger muilt funtion reversing light/up shift light socket, I've been driving with it for 3 years and 30,000 miles and no 2nd gear crunch, no oil leaks or the noise I'm now hearing..
