Don't forget the clip. The ETKA isn't working today….so I can't give you the part number.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

I hope that the gear didn't fall into the tranny as you were removing the cable. I have heard of folks that kept filling their tranny's and the gear under a gentle rocking floats near the hole…..

There is a Small "C-Clip" that holds the gear to the cable.  in removing the cable I have heard of the clip failing and the gear falls into the tranny…..

errr… have to agree that a 'missing' drive is prob in the gearbox from someone yanking the cable. On my GTI the deep pressed metal 'paint tin lid' was very tight and I had to carefully lever it with 1st a razor blade and then small screw drivers. Pulling the cable would have just stripped the clip and drive off the cable leaving the pressed metal cover fixed in the gearbox and the bits dropping into the bowels of the gearbox
