MK1 ground clearance on coilovers

How do I fill the arch gap if I raise the coilovers

Hi all,I'm quite new to the Mk1 Vw Golf scene and have bought a slammed 4 door cl auto. I love the way it looks but it grounds out a lot. I can deal with the bumpy ride but its so low even a slight dip in the road causes a scrape on the sump or the plate at the bottom of the auto box.It has coilovers pretty much wound to the bottom which makes it bounce around quite a lot! Currently it has 175/50/13s on the front which are banded to 7" and 195/50/13 on the back which are banded to 8". So a fairly small tyre stretchMy Question is, if I raise the suspension 20mm all round to gain more ground clearance what tyres would i need to take in the arch gap?  I.e do i get 60s instead of 50s? don't want gaps between the arch and tyre, although i know i will have to sacrifice something to stop the grounding out.Cheers,Matt

I think running 13's you're pretty much stuck. Tyre choice for 13's is a bit slim tbh.

Just try lifting it, you might be surprised at how lifting it a bit still looks good.

Otherwise go for 15's. You can drop it the same amount but you'll end up an inch further off the ground coz the wheels are biggerer.

Thanks. I'll lift it up a bit see what it looks like. I think i can feel a wheel change coming on.

Standard VW 13 inch wheels at 5 or 5.5 inches width should have 175/70/13 tyres so there's an extra 20mm of tyre to fill the arch, I also expect your speedo is over reading in speed and miles covered.
