Whats everyone's view on rebuild's

Hey all

Im considering rebuilding my Inner Constant  Velocity Joint's,As i left them unprotected so are contaminated.Just thought has anyone done this Job?. Before i crack open the Bible.

My concerns are that separating the Balls from the cage in the Cv's which means the Worn in positions are out.

Anyone give me their experience,Views on the subject.

Thanks all:thumbs:

I have a Rebuilder here that is a Great guy, and close, I get them rebuilt for about 60 bucks, and there is no mess.

If it were I I would opt for new ones, they are about 75 bucks each usually.  You do have to know the inner joint diameter.
11.5 inches 90mm
12 or greater 100.

The quality of rebuild over here is iffy.  I bought some from a good store, and the first one lasted a week.  The second one lasted 2 days before destroying the inner race and output shaft on my Tranny.  So I had to get one from the wrecking yard.  I do think that if the rebuilder is called CARDONE, that is exactly what you are doing to your car.

Replacing the outer joint isn't that hard, and the kits aren't that expensive, as well as the inner joint.  I have had the balls fall out when removing a tranny as I wasn't careful and had the joint compressed.  An extended joint the balls won't fall out.

Me, I just take them to my rebuilder, less messy, other wise I would only go new.

Now this is from a guy that had over 300K miles on my original CV's on my 81 Golf Diesel, yes I replaced torn boots, cleaned the joint and re-packed them with CV grease about 50-60 K.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
