Removing old fuel

Best, effective and safest way to remove old fuel from the tank?

My ongoing fuel issue has led me to to try and remove the old fuel, around a quarter of a tank and then replace with new. Apart from the obvious syphoning with a piece of garden hose pipe and me sucking it out, which I don’t really fancy, what’s the best way to safely remove the fuel?

what year of car makes a wee bit of difference, as some have in-tank pumps and you jumper that to 12V and let it pump out to a catch pan.

86 with an in tank pump too. Ahh so 12v wire to the pump under the rear seat, then a length of pipe from one of the spigots on pump head into the pan ? That sounds too straight forward  :ocf_emoticons__eusa_clap:

Well it is that simple.

Here is the typical fuel pump from teh in-tank.
The right outlet port is the pump out.
