Which number fuel pump relay do you have fitted if a VW relay as some prime and some don't or is it an after market relay?

Mine never primes and I have no problems starting the car, you can bridge the 2 bigger connections where the relay fits to get the fuel pump running all the time to check the pump still works.

Hi the ABF's been in about 8 years now with no problems its only since the body shop removed the fuel pump and the tank just wondered if they connected it wrong or blown the fuse when reconnected it ?

If there is a standard fuel pump fitted it only has 2 wires going to it, a live and an earth.
Does it run with when you put a bit of wire between the 2 bigger connections where the relay fits?

Have you spoke to the body shop to see if they could fix the fault for you if you think they have caused it?

Shouldn't be able to wire it wrong as there are usually 2 different sizes ring connections used, unless it's been modded ?

Relay and fuse box layout,
No2 for fuel pump relay, I have No.62 in mine, there is a list of other relays which can fit and they have different rev limiter or may prime before starting.

the above assumes its on a kjet relay, depending on what ecu it is and who wired it you may have a 67, 80 or 167 relay in slot 2 which is ecu triggered and not coil triggered :)

check all your fuses, 17 and 18 in particular again depending on how it was done and what ecu you may have an ecu relay triggered bu one of those 2 fuses

Hi all still no joy with the fuel pump checked all fuses all good, checked No 167 relay all good and checked the fuel pump by connecting straight to the battery and its working fineO_o so I'm guessing there is a brake in the wiring ?? how hard is it to change ? I'm guessing its a big job?? cheers

ok now swap a 17, 18 or 100 relay to slot 2 and the fuel pump should come on with ignition. if not check the fuse again and the pump wiring from e/14 back towards the rear of the car. the fact it had welding may point to the issue, look very carefully around the areas it was welded may have burnt thru somewhere or pinched the wiring when tank was refitted

it depends where the damage is, if its outside the car a bit of a fiddle to pull the loom back into the car to repair it but I'm not sure what the access is like?  probably worth pulling up the carpets to chase the rear wiring loom from the fusebox to the rear, hopefully it'll be something obvious.

1st check would be the earth, it should go to the white 4 way spade block behind the fusebox. may just have come loose during all the work…
