I am having a bit of trouble with my golf. It drives away fine but there is a whine coming from the rear of the drivers side. Then after a while the car will cut out but will start again no problem.
when it cuts its starts screaming / whining from by the rear wheel on the drivers side.
Any ideas? Fuel pump?
Thanks
Denis

If it's a GTI, that sounds like the fuel pump. Is yours early or late? Later (cabby) models have the lift pump in the tank, if that fails it puts more strain on the main pump, until it kills it.
Yep agree with the above. When I had my cabby I had to have both replaced. Replaced the main fuel pump and couldn't work out why there was still an issue. Turned out to be the lift pump as well - as already mentioned.

New lift pump is the cheaper option to replace so I would start there 1st.
