Braided flexi fuel line split behind steering rack - need quick repair?

How to do a quick fuel line repair?

Hi,

I have set of crazy quiffs flexible fuel lines fitted to my Mk1 Campaign. The clamps on the bulkhead had come off whilst driving and I have managed to rupture a hole in one of the pipes & was towed home by a lovely chap from the AA.  I really don't want to spend £82 on a replacement hose at this time of the year and want to get my car back on the road ASAP.

I managed to pick up some plastic straight 8mm hose connectors from halfords along with some petrol pipe hose clips. If I was to cut the damaged section of pipe and insert the plastic hose connector would this be strong enough to withhold the pressure? Or would a metal barb inserted be a better option?

Festive regards,

if you clamp it with proper fuel line clips it should be ok. mk2 kjet cars all use plastic fuel line :)

which one is it though? if its the return its under no pressure so no worries.

the feed line is under 5 bar at all times so this one you need to be sure you make a good connection.  if you can shove it in a bit more so you can use 2 fuel line clamps

i had to replace some flexible braided hoses on a mates gti as when the pump kicked in they would flex with the pressure and broke where it bends through the hole in the body. he was missing the accumulator so had no pressure when switched off

i used a couple of sets of mk2 plastic ones and joined them with the standard push in vw connectors that bolt together
