89 1.8 clipper - Jetex mild alum steel exhaust.

Post

Ripped the standard exhaust off two weeks ago on a speed bump.  Replaced it with the steel jettex exhaust.  Doesn't sit that well, does anyone have any photos of this exhaust fitted on there golf, just in case I not fitted it correctly.

Also I can't believe jetted haven't altered the pipe where it connects to the standard down pipe really poor.  Front joint onto down pipes.   Down pipes 1.5 inch - jettex 2 inch, has anyone changed there down pipes if so what did you fit so it marries up with this exhaust or other option.

Any help appreciated.

I've got exactly this system on my 85 cabby.

I used a reducing sleeve on the front end to match the down pipes

At the back I used a combo of large "O" rubbers to meet the brackets until I could get new hangers welded on to the back box, all the others are ok.

The problem is we have Scirroco floor pans and the system is for a Mk1 golf hence the hanger difference

Here is some pics of mine, unfortunately I dont have any photos of the new hangers but can do tomorrow

Oh so pretty......

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

The sleeves are cheap enough, I'll probably spray mine at some point to match the rest of the system.

If you look at the photo of the systems next to each other you can see the difference in lengths of the hangers.

All worth it in the end though, sounds very nice
