Where does the brown earth wire from the rocker cover go to??? My coil is reading 12v on the green and 6.7 on the red and black. MK1 gti cabriolet 1989.

It goes from the Cylinder head Valve cover bolt or Ground connection… to the Bracket of the coil, be sure that if you are running stranded wire to leave enough slack for engine torque.  If you can find flat braided copper it take the flex more better…. you can even solder the ends and drill them as well as heat shrinking it so it looks more OEM.

Thank you again Briano... I will try this on Monday. I got replacement clocks last week and had the same problem..no rev counter working. So now i know that there is nothing wrong with my clocks.

I have that wire as you said…but I should have said where does the brown and white wire go to. It is also fixed to the rocker head. So I have two wires from the rocker head. 1. goes to coil bracket and 2. brown'white goes with other wires to where???? it follows other wires. I think this brown'white wire might be broken.
