Replacement heater / blower

Post

So i've removed the faulty heater / blower… and part number on the unit I have removed is 321819021A. I would prefer to fit a new (even if aftermarket) unit as opposed to a used one… will this fit https://www.vwheritage.com/251819015-heater-fan-motor-t25-golf-mk1-cabrio-scirocco-mk1-mk2 ?  It lists the car as compatible, but lists a different OE part number.

If not, does anyone know where I can source a good quality new one that is right for my car?

Thanks in advance

Dan

Hi Dan,
If you let us know which car you have then the collective wisdom will work better!

Yep, that would help - it's a MK1 GTI Cabriolet "F" Reg (1.8 8V).

Yes it should work. 251819015 is the same part code as the blower I put in my 1991 Clipper back in the spring.

Thanks. I've ordered and will give it a go.

There is a fitting guide on here that suggests splitting the fan in two in order to get it in, but I found I could wrangle it in place without, so I avoided the issue of putting it back together after splitting.

Thanks for the tip, I managed to brute force the old one out, so should be able to do the reverse to refit!

I would also suggest that you check the cabin side of the heater fan connector as the brown ground wire got toasty and I had to splice a new wire to ground from the engine side of the cable  to insulated male female connectors to frame ground.

I had to do that to 2 of my 3 Cabriolets.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Thanks, I'll check that out, too.
