MPH/KPH difference

Post

Does anyone know if it is a different speedo for KPH, or just a different gear?

Depends on the gearbox. 020 gearboxes have 3 different speedo drive gears IIRC. The 084 or 085 only have one.

I usually find that there is about a 30 mph difference from KPH . :)

over here if I do 95kph, I get runned over on the interstate as I am doing 60mph.

Same as mine then. So it would be the clock that needs to be changed, Not just the gear on the cable?

I think the gear in the gearbox would be the same, as depending on what box you have you have different colors for the tranny,  then you have different toothed gears in the speedo…to correct the speeds on then.

Differences in the speedo type.
90 MotoMeter gearing.

89 VDO gearing that has the red gear, and you can get variations in the toothed versions . the gears are pricey.

I had a 89, that I took apart years ago, then I have had a plethora of 90's that I have taken apart and repaired…I take photos…. lots of them….
For folks that need them, just like you.
The earlier ones were on a 2mp digital camera…. so they are fuzzy.

Wow you have a MotoMeter unit, with the speed sensor for the Sound control on a Aktive stereo as well as Cruise.  See I can tell a lot about things with pictures.

Oh here is a gimmie, if you only have 2 wires on your speed control connect, you can put it in either way and it functions correctly.

Yes it requires further disassembly as it get it out of the housing.

Carefully NOTICE THE WORD CAREFULLY move the needle over the stud to the right.
Using 2 Prys (pad the face plate) directly under the needle against the pin pry it up and off the pin, do not try to use the needle end you will break it.  The needle pry is next to the shaft that holds it on and directly under the big black circle.  Once the needle is free, then you can remove the face plate.

With the face plate off you can them use a pick, and move the keeper to the side of the number and roll it about to the correct mileage.

I got bored and wired up a bedside clock:

Anyways…

I can't seem to move the keepers (I assume you mean the white things above the numbers). I tried to slide them left or right, but they don't move enough.

Eventually I slid out the metal bar holding the white things which allowed me to change it. Perhaps that's what you meant.

Going back to the board. I have tear which explains the lights not working, but there is also another break…

IMG_2788.jpg

This seems to go to ground in one direction, and into something (is it the voltage regulator?).

Could this explain the MFA not working?
