Gti rear fog lights

Post

Car failed it's MOT for not having both fog lights working. I looked and there is no wire bridging passenger side to drivers side but there is a bulb holder

Question is should I have 2 fogs or one?

If we are talking about the rear there should only be one!

It should be located off side (drivers side) It was German logic so it won't be confused with brakes lights, there being two of those.

The fitting is there on the nearside (passenger) for LHD markets.

Indeed it is/was common for people to run a wire across and add a 2nd bulb. This then adds to the load and dims the original light. When I moved house and started using a different MOT garage he picked up on it and I had to uninstall the 2nd lamp (not guilty m'lud) to get it to pass the MOT.

Yes only 1 fog light on the rear of the car, that's what VW fitted from factory and that's alll that is needed, your MOT chap is talking rubbish, lots of cars out there with only 1 fog light…

Take it back and get your MOT then find another garage to use and never go back there again…
