G60 no spark

Post

ive been trying to work through the wiring gremlins on this for a while now. All the feeds are present at the ecu, fuel pump is priming at ignition stage but there is no spark at cranking. There is also no voltage at the coil terminals when cranking and no tci is fitted (no sure if it should, this is how it was when I bought it). I presume the ecu sends a switched live or ground to the coil but I'm finding it difficult to get the info on this and any help would be appreciated. Could it be the hall sensor isn't sending a signal to the ecu, all these parts aren't cheap so would rather fault find rather than replacing everything.

So I've tested a bit further and found I have 12v at the coil black 15 terminal but no earth at the red/black & green 1 terminal. The green comes from the ecu and red/ black from D26 on the fuse box.

Does the ecu trigger the green earth?

Does it look at the dizzy hall sender for this?

Can I test the coil by just giving it a 12v and local earth?

yes the ecu triggers the coil directly, its a pulsed earth as engine is turning over.

make sure the rest of the ecu is wired up properly, theres a cranking live to the ecu pin 1 which goes to a spade plug on C/18.

you should have good 12v both with ignition and when cranking to the black/yellow to pin 14, this is also shared with the ISV and isv should be buzzing ignition on

hall sender is what tells ecu it needs to fire the coil so would be on the list of suspects if you got no spark
