Fuse board max draw.

Post

Hi guys hope everyone had a good time off.

I am looking at the wiring for my car now and am planning on running a battery in the boot.

I have a mega fuse box front and rear. A double in the front that will feed the main fuse box. I was wanting to fuse it with a mega fuse. Has anyone any ideas as to the total current draw for the fuse board?

TIA

I would suspect that about 40Amps is the max draw of the Fuse Panel as the Radiator Fan runs @ 30A.

I don't recall the Fusible Link Rating from the battery to the fuse panel but I would suspect that 40A is about what it is set at, that would be 10% above the max rated fuse.  And is another good reason to relay high current draws off the ignition and head light switch.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Thanks for the reply.

The headlights will be on uprated looms.

I have 300amp rated cable and was going to fuse the cable at 250amps each end.

I work that out to be good for the 1.8t starter.

The mk1 live wire is 6mm2, and mk4 golf have 40a fuses on the battery box for the fan 6mm2 wires so Briano is spot on once again :)
