Fan not kicking in.

Post

My Caddy is fitted with a MK3 AHU engine.

I have noticed today that the fan doesn't kick in and the temperature gauge inside doesn't work either. Will the two be related and is it an easy fix as I'm a duffer with electrics. Thanks

Yes/No.

You may want to check your fuses first.
You may want to Jumper your fan The Red or Brown/red or red White wires are +12 the solid brown is ground.

Jumper +12 to the fans one or two non-BROWN wires and verify that the fan works.  If it does, then the year and model validate what we check next.

Usually it is the Fuse, The Fan, or the Relay /theroswitch depending on year, or the Radiator Fan Switch mounted lower left hand side of the radiator LOW.

The gauge is flaky on it's own right.  If the Fuel gauge is working, then you probably need to read my How-to on fixing wonky water gauges… it is in the archive section how-tos under briano.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?
