I have seen issues with the quality of aftermarket lenses, they aren't sealed correctly, and or that the gaskets don't fit as well. If you have the standards gaskets, then make sure that the Gap is at the bottom on the lense.
You could try new gaskets, or making sure that the lenses are properly tightened.
On my 81Golf, I had a similar issue with my OEM's that I basically ran a clear bead of RTV(Silicone) 3/4 of the way around them to seal them. I used Masking tape to make sure that I got a clean edge, on the lense and about 1/4 of an inch on the paint as well.
I removed the lenses and cleaned the pain, as well as the lense so I would get a good seal. After sealing them I never had another leak.
I have new front lenses on a Van I own, and the replacement lenses leaked more than the OEM. I went so far as to use the Metal foil tape over the seams on the lens and haven't had an issue since. So it is a quality issue with OEM and Aftermarket…

Knowing the make and year is a boon to us, as in a 83 Cabriolet, or Golf, Jetta ….

As they grounded one side to the other, I took a separate ground on the Right and Left from the Center of the plate to a Bumper bolt…. I found that I got about 12.85 to the Bulbs, verses a .5V difference when they were grounded in series….
