One leg is Battery or pin 14
Middle leg is ground (pin2)
The last leg is 9-10.5V
If those aren't there then you may have an issue of the stabilizer being bad, and or it isn't getting the proper voltage.
If the fuel gauge isn't working it cound be needed to be back fed.
There is a how-to in the archive section on that as well
The 10V stabilizer is a FA7810-Aet 1.00 or less at a good electronic store, or 45 dollars from dealer or vw heritage….

The ebay one is rated at 1.5A where as the AETU is 1.0
