Your advice please - is it practical to choose a GTi spoiler?

Golf Mk1 spoiler GTi or normal

What is your experience?

I am lucky enough to have found a Mk1 Golf GX recently.  You may know this model was produced with the big GTi spoiler.  My car had no spoiler at all when I bought it, and I do not know which spoiler would be more sensible to fit - a big spoiler or the standard one.  Sleeping policemen have been invented since our cars were built so I am wondering if the big spoilers tend to scrape and break on them or on kerbs.  What is your experience?

Thank you for our wonderful owners club, and thank you for your advice. 5bbbed3fd83e3.jpg

Well it is all opinions, you either like them or you hate them, and it is all and ever is an opinion, so it is totally up to you.

Some Flame, some love, those that flame say why do you think they call them spoilers?  LOL…..

It matters not to me as on my car only my opinion is the only one I listen to.  If others hate my decisions, then that is on them.

So do what your heart wants, kinda like Marriage.

Scrapage yes, no all depends on your parking skills and Curb height.  :)
Oh and Speed Bump height.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

No problem with sleeping policemen, or parking against kerbs, my GTI spoiler has never caught even with the ride height being 40mm less than your GX.

Running standard height you should not have any problems with the bigger spoiler unless to do something stupid and go off roading…
