Front grill fitting

Post

Hi,

When fitting the part of the grill that goes over the headlights, are fixing clips to be used or is it just a self tapper into the front panel. Just ordering some new end pieces and noticed there are fixing clips listed but I cant see where these would fit

Thanks.

There are nylon Keepers that are on the valance, and the grille screws go in to those.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

knowing the year of your ride then you can go to the ETKA and get the pn, of the originals.

Can't link the etka as it appears that something is having issues.

Late model tintops (no idea what you have) which is all i am familiar with have 2 self tappers each side which just screw into the metal,  no inserts that ive ever seen…

Think replacement front panels use the later design so if its been replaced and not original you'll need the plastic inserts to screw into

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Yeah it's been replaced but there arnt any large enough holes to take the inserts. I think I might try with self tapers first to save making larger holes. If that doesn't work I'll then try the inserts. Thanks for your help
