door holes

Post

so hard to explain but on front edge of door where door strap is, on mine there are some big holes that hollow into door cavity - is there a grommet / plug that covers these up as seems strange to allow water/ air/dirt/ noise into the door cavity?

The only hole in the door edge is the Rubber Feed Thru for the speaker pods.

All others are open to allow air to enter to dry the Doors out if water gets past your window scrapers.
Your Door skin drains are free of debris?

Circled yellow is door skin pucker drain.

Leaves and things as well as window bits can get this drain plugged, and it is imperative that it and the Channel of the door is clean and free of debris so water can't pool and rust out your lower doors.

So with that drain open the air that is channeled in via the opening keep the Door Dry.
The Vapor Barriers and such keep the insides clean.

There is also a Drain plug in the center of the lower door frame.

If that plug is missing then it can allow water to directly enter the Cabin and your floors.

There's a plastic shroud that protects and covers the door check, is that what you mean?
