New key required for Cabby boot lock

So after trawling the net and this forum, i have the following query.

I have  a number of different keys on my cabriolet project, it seems the boot lock key is missing and neither of the keys i have fit it.

After removing the boot lock on the plastic surround i can see a 4 digit code, is this the code which can be used to get a new key made a a locksmith?

or will i have to strip the barrel and make new tumblers to fit all the keys?

The boot lock key should be the ignitions key.
If your ignition key doesn't work then you should have the lock re-keyed for the ignition switch.

As aside the ignition key should work all the Keys in your car, boot, glovebox, doors and of course the ignition.

I had the original keys on my 92 Cabby, and a different one for each door and boot.  It did work the glove box.
So over the course of a few months I acquired all the wafers to change them to a single key, it is so much easier and less weight on the ring.

tumblers, wafers, or pins which ever you are want to call them yes.

The Secret is to Key them to the Ignition key, why because the ignition lock cylinder is a pain to get out.

Why or how did this happen?

Folks order a new handle and it comes with a key, instead of talking the old cylinder out and re-use it, well they bolt it up.   Then they break the other side and get a key with it, so now you have 3 keys that work one for ignitions and 2 for a door.  Or folks loose the Ignition key and are running off the Valet Key.

Ship Happens.  So you have to know how to get over it, or get it back to "normal?"
