'91 Cabrio Seats - non GTI

Post

Does anyone know where I could get a front seat bolster (foam kit)  for my 91 Cabrio Clipper, it's not the GTI so Newton Commercial & VW Heritage can't help, and plan B could be fitting a Mk1 TT interior, anyone got any experience?, how much cutting n shutting of the seat frames, and can the rear seats be made to fit - this would mean inheriting the 3 point seat belts which I see as a positive. Thanks in advance

Have you got a picture of your seats?

I thought VW fitted the same seats in the Gti and carb cars in later production, just early cars had difference seats???

Other option is some one can repair the side bolster, as I guess that's were the seat is worn.

The only difference I have seen in seat frames from a "regular" seat to a Sport seat is the addition of a metal rods for the side bolsters back and bottom to set in to.  I know that when I went for a non-sport set of covers, I cut the wire frames off for the bolsters bottom and seat back.

I have a how do I repair Bolsters in the DIY section.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Show me pictures of your interior……
I will tell you what you have.
In the states we have clippers and no GTI's but they most all had sport seats.

Thanks for the replies so far,
Unfortunately I don't have the seats, they're with Trimline, but the issue appears to be that GTI seat base foams are made of the 3 separate parts (2 bolsters and a base) and what I'm being told is my seats which I believe a cloth Recaro's have a single piece ( bolsters and base combined), they do have the wire to support in the bolster. I had bought and supplied the GTI bolster assuming it would fit, worst case they'll have to fabricate a new bolster, which shouldn't be to difficult I guess

Most cabby seats are one piece cushion.

Unless you have sportline Recaro style or tin top GTI sports ones.
Over the years stuff gets swapped about.

I did a seat refurb how to in the how to section. This deals with replacing the one piece cushion set up.

Thanks guys, the photos in Chortle's How to guide are identical to mine, I don't expect to get a new base foam these days, so looks like I'm going to be modifying the GTI bolster I have to fit…somehow

I can supply you new cushions but they are expensive.

Fast delivery and good communication, delivery was a bit pricey, but, job done
