1.8t oil cooler delete

Hello there, I have a 1.8t 20v and I'm running a external oil cooler. I'm wanting to delete the original water oil cooler but not sure where I can get a shorter threaded centre bolt to make up for the space where it used to fit. If this makes sense.

Take it to a hardware store and get a piece of all thread pipe as that is NPT thread IIRC about 1/2 the length.

To get the pipe thread out, you put the nut on and spin it so you can clamp the nut and the inside of the pipe, then clamp a Pair of Vice Grips on it to spin the pipe out.

You will replace the "t" hose with the cheaper version that connects from the WP to the BY-Pass metal, then get a rubber cap to seal off the water outlet flange fitting.

Well I never thought of that. Is it really that simple. Do you have any idea on the thread and pitch I need please?

The thread pitch is the same as the oil filter  the pn should be:

059115721

The Thread pitch is the same on both ends, and it is about 2-2 1/2 inches long.  Called a Pipe Union.

You screw the new one in until it stops, I use Teflon tape on the threads in to the filter flange.

If it Sticks out too long no worries as the filter is rather hollow, and will take the extra length.  You just have to spin the new filter off a little longer… :) . I had that issue when I converted my 90's to external oil cooler, as it didn't have any oil cooler on it.
