Did you get the camber and tracking set up since lowering the car?

Did you fit shorter bump stops when you fitted lowered springs?

What is bump stops?
I bought springs with shocks

The bump stops live underneath the spring on the shaft of the shocks, are the big bit of rubber which the plastic cover fits to, there job is to stop the wheel hitting the wheel arch if you hit a big hole or take off on a hump back bridge.

Is the suspension stiff when driving if you hit a small hole is there a loud bang or if you bounce the car by hand does it feel as if there's little downward movement?

If you look at this thread I've posted up toward the bottom a picture of how much I needed to cut off my bump stop.

If you look here the kit comes with shorter bumpstops, they might sell the separate if you don't want to cut your down as you need to cut a section out and glue it back together to be able to fit the plastic over.

Thanks! But the car drive's great
Only in corners i get the feeling im losing it.
People offered me to go powerflex but I don't want to go stiff just go better handling

Well the Golf tintop has flex in the chassis, that is a fact.
The lower Kbar on the front, and the upper strut bar is also a good thing.

You can also use a X brace on the under side as well as a rear strut bar, and  anti-roll bar front and back that is beefier,  ie: The lower ones that tie the Control arms at the front and Braces the Back axle.  Other than that there isn't much else that you can do to Stiffen the frame.

The K-Brace for the lower front is usually found on a Scirocco, and or the others on Ebay as used.

Cabriolets have the anti-roll bars on the front and rear, you would need new bushings tho and if you get all the parts off of a Cabriolet it shouldn't be that much at the
scrappers.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Thanks! The k bar and upper one is a problem with our MOT (local law forbidden any non factory changes)
So…bushes for front antriroll?

The Golf handling does get worse the lower you go as the wishbones go on an angle when lowered and when cornering hard they go even more of an angle and you can get bump steer.

Ways around it is raise the height or fit flip track rods and lower ball joint extenders so the wishbones are horizontal.

What camber angle is the car set up?
1 degree negative camber is ok for most road cars.

Tyres, tyre make, tyre pressure and wheel size can also affect handling.

As I said before if you don't have shorter bumpstops when cornering the cars weight puts it on to the bump stops and if there is any bumps in the road/corner the car will jump about and you lose grip…

Thanks!
I'll check the bumps asap
I have 14" fondmetal rims with 175/60

That's a thinner tyre than standard VW 14" wheels, they have 185/60/14 tyres…

I found out about bump stops the hard way, my car was ok when driving on normal roads but on rougher roads the ride as hard or it I did hit a dropped drain there was a big bang and The CD player would skip etc and if I pushed it into a bend which had bumpy parts the steering would jump a little and the car felt unsafe at speed. I found out my bump stops was hitting after about 1 year as the plastic cover was destroyed as it hit the strut and I could then see I only had about 10mm between the bump stop and top of the strut nut, I cut the bump stops down it was a lot better at corners and more forgiving on rough roads.

I know…again…don't want troubles with the police or mot (again…they require a formal approval from Vw for the tyres)

That's a pain you can run slight wider tyres as VW UK cars all came with 185/60/14 fitted as standard, the wider the tyre the more contact it makes on the road which is a good thing…   Later Cabriolet had even wider tyres fitted as standard…
